Transform Your Classroom with Self-Grading Math Spiral Review

Halloween Activities

I can’t believe that Halloween is right around the corner!  Are you still looking for activities to do with your class?  You’ve come to the right place!  Here are some things that I am planning on doing:

1.  STEM Challenge
There are LOTS of fun Halloween themed STEM challenges.  A simple Google search will bring up loads of different ideas.  I am planning to have my students create pumpkin ziplines.

I found little pumpkins at my local grocery store on sale for 10 for $10.  I can’t wait to see the finished products.  Click here if you are interested in checking out the resource.

2.  Spooky Stories
Kids LOVE to write spooky stories.  This can be approached in a lot of ways.  I like to find some spooky images and use them as inspiration.  I also found a great FREE resource called Halloween Spooky Tales Writing. I like to have students read the spooky stories to classmates with props.  It’s so much fun!
3.  Halloween Math
My students are mastering traditional multiplication.  I created a game for them to practice the skill.  I am using dollar store eyeballs.  I bought 3 packs and wrote a digit (0 -9) on each of the eyeballs.  I also created number cards in case the eyeballs cannot be found.  I also bought a plastic cauldron to hold the eyeballs or eyeball number cards.  You can find this resource here.
A friend of mine wanted to do something similar, but with factor pairs.  So, I added another sheet to use this game to practice that skill, too.  Don’t you love getting two resources for the price of one?
4.  Dressing Up
Dressing up is something that you either love or despise.  To be honest go back and forth.  This year I am leaning towards dressing up or having my class dress in Halloween colors.  I found the cutest Harry Potter t-shirt at Target that I plan to wear either way.
I hope you find these ideas useful.  What fun activities are you planning with your students?
