“I created this activity for a specific purpose in my classroom. A colleague suggested that we have a “Read-In” day during our winter assessment window. I thought it was a great idea! I decided that it would be fun to have the kids read for a set period of time and then stop to discuss the books they were reading. It worked perfectly! I was able to read individually with students, they were allowed to read anywhere in the room, and when the timer went off they chatted with classmates about books.
