I am so excited to join the blog link up hosted by Glimmers of Learning! Summer is here and it is time for teachers to rest, relax, and recharge! Here are the top 3 things I am going to do to recharge this summer:
Family & Friend Time
Once the school year ends, almost at the end of June, I look forward to catching up with my family and friends. The end of the year is hectic and I feel like I lose touch with EVERYBODY! I can’t wait to reconnect and spend time being “mom”. Whether it is a softball tournament, a lacrosse game or just hanging out at home I love every minute. Hanging out with friends is something else I look forward to after the craziness of the school year ends. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the energy to hang out with anyone between April and June. I am counting down the days!

Beaching It
What could be better than time at the beach? Not very much in my opinion! Living near the beach is a blessing and I have embraced sun-kissed skin, sand between my toes, and the sound of the waves crashing along the shore. Now that my kids are older they spend most of their time at our local beach with friends. But, they still love heading to Maine and hanging out at the beach ALL day with mom and dad. It has become a family tradition and we try to get there a few times each summer. Beach time is good for my soul!
Books, Books, and More Books
I love, love, love to read! During the school year I read books for reading groups, a lot of student writing, and books about teaching or teaching strategies. One of the things I love about the summer is having the time to simply read something for fun. I have adding books to a list all year. Some of them are kid books that I might want to use in my classroom next year and some of them are “beach reads” – books that I don’t have to think too much about. And, since I am an admitted Harry Potter nerd, I am anxiously awaiting July 31st and the release of the 8th book in the series. I know, I know, it’s not really a book. But, I still can’t wait to read it!
I’d love to hear how you are planning to recharge this summer and feel free to pass along any book recommendations!
