Summer’s Here (Almost) – Time to Recharge

I am so excited to join the blog link up hosted by Glimmers of Learning!  Summer is here and it is time for teachers to rest, relax, and recharge!  Here are the top 3 things I am going to do to recharge this summer:

Family & Friend Time
Once the school year ends, almost at the end of June, I look forward to catching up with my family and friends.  The end of the year is hectic and I feel like I lose touch with EVERYBODY!  I can’t wait to reconnect and spend time being “mom”.  Whether it is a softball tournament, a lacrosse game or just hanging out at home I love every minute.  Hanging out with friends is something else I look forward to after the craziness of the school year ends.  I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the energy to hang out with anyone between April and June.  I am counting down the days!

X marks the spot.  The countdown is on!

Beaching It
What could be better than time at the beach?  Not very much in my opinion!  Living near the beach is a blessing and I have embraced sun-kissed skin, sand between my toes, and the sound of the waves crashing along the shore.  Now that my kids are older they spend most of their time at our local beach with friends.  But, they still love heading to Maine and hanging out at the beach ALL day with mom and dad.  It has become a family tradition and we try to get there a few times each summer.  Beach time is good for my soul!

Books, Books, and More Books
I love, love, love to read!  During the school year I read books for reading groups, a lot of student writing, and books about teaching or teaching strategies.  One of the things I love about the summer is having the time to simply read something for fun.  I have adding books to a list all year.  Some of them are kid books that I might want to use in my classroom next year and some of them are “beach reads” – books that I don’t have to think too much about.  And, since I am an admitted Harry Potter nerd, I am anxiously awaiting July 31st and the release of the 8th book in the series.  I know, I know, it’s not really a book.  But, I still can’t wait to read it!

I’d love to hear how you are planning to recharge this summer and feel free to pass along any book recommendations!

  1. I'm so jealous that you live close to the beach!!! I would love that. I just read Crossover and Booked two very good books. I also love the False Prince Series, it was so good. Have a great summer!

  2. It would be so amazing to live close to a beach! We would be on the beach everyday! Enjoy your last few days of school then get plenty of well deserved rest and relaxation!

These are great and my student loves them! These Boom Cards are perfect for my students to provide extra assignments to continue reinforcing the skills they are working on in their general ed class (virtually). I wish I had the skills to create them myself!

I love the way the graphic organizers are scaffolded so that students work on each step of a RACES answer. I'm a tutor who works with students with language LDs and this approach has been fantastic for them. Having the editable graphic organizers makes it easy for me to keep creating new and different pages for students who need to extra practice on a particular part of the RACES answer. Thank you so much!

Amazing resource! Students loved working on this to show their parents during fall conferences. Their faces lit up as they went through the slides and read aloud their goals for the trimester and what they were proud of.
